There are constant media assurances that the US Government is not listening to innocent telephone calls made by citizens. It's illegal to do it without a court order, but legality isn't something that the Obama Administration seems to pay much attention to.
The Obama Administration wants a war in Syria -- possibly to divert attention to the myriad of scandals on the domestic scene (referred to as the Wag the Dog Scenario).
