Framing the Historical Argument

A man who never met a dictator he didn't like. Sad news about the cancer being gone.

A decade ago, in 2006, his son John (who goes by Jack) ran for a US Senate seat in Nevada. I was in Las Vegas on business at the time and happened to pass by a grocery store. They'd erected a dias of sorts and the signs said, "Meet Pres. Jimmy Carter". Dad showed up to stump for junior.

I turned into the shopping center out of general interest, parked, and watched as Jimmy Carter gave a speech. But nobody listened. People wheeled their shopping carts in and out, they'd pause, briefly, and continue to their cars, unload wares and drive off. In the time that Carter spoke, and I came for the last 20 minutes of his speech, there were at most, ten people who listened.

He's irrelevant.

Just as Obama will be irrelevant.

History weighed him in the balance and found him wanting.

Jack Carter lost his run for the Senate because nobody cared about either him or his father.

LL is spot on. Carter is irrelevant but he did cause a lot of damage to the US during his reign. We're still paying for his poor decisions about the Mideast.
