Snow Day

I made a run to my daughter's home and took a few snapshots today around noon. The city is Murieta, California - located between Los Angeles and San Diego, CA. It normally doesn't snow here.

Southern California kids don't usually have snow toys. I saw boogie boards (ocean), wake boards, a raft, and pool toys. Anything that will slide down a snowy hill.

Snow days are fun, more so when it's not the norm. What happened to feed bag sleds... I guess that's a little too country for so cal.

I don't think that there would be anyone in that neighborhood but me who would know what a feedbag is. They took the wakeboard from the ski boats, etc...which work just about as well as a feed bag.

Looks like they were having good fun, that's the important part, feedbags or wakeboards.

Aw, lovely! And very special! I can say that as a Texan gal who treasured every half inch that fell as a kid.

In fact, both of my babies had snow on their first Christmas mornings in little Bedford, TX. Very rare, shocking, and precious to me.

Glad to see that global warming is as farcical in Southern California as it is here, where we can't even celebrate NYE because it's too cold. :)

Happy New Year, Larry!

Is this the first snow trip for your baby raptor?

LL said...

Yes, but funny that you should ask. My daughter said, "I don't know if you want to wait until the snow melts to come over."

My reply was, "I have a 4x4 Raptor with snow chains and a full kit of recovery gear...I think that I can handle 4" of melting snow."

Surprisingly Cal Trans was out on I-15 with snow plows and they were clearing the freeway and off-ramps. I didn't know that they had plows.

Damn Global Cooling and the heavy winter snow in Southern California.

We got dusted with snow in the Phoenix Valley. It's Algore's fault.

What happened to California? What's with this snow stuff all over the place?

LL said...

WoFat, I think that it's the "solar vortex" problem...or some such that is creating this global cooling problem in SoCal. We have been encouraged NOT to BBQ outside or to mow our lawns to save the environment and this is what we get for our trouble...

OMG - I bet there wasn't a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk within 50 miles. That is the way it is when the word 'snow' or 'ice' is mentioned in GA.

And those city folks don't know how to bake bread or milk cows.

That's cute the kids all found something to slide down the hill with. Odd seeing snow on one of your posts. I'll tell my son not to be too quick to leave his jacket behind, I think he flies out today... then again by the time he arrives the snow will probably be gone.
