What can be done to stop Global Cooling?

I'm not asking former US Vice President to give his Nobel Peace Prize for alerting us to Global Warming back.

But will the Cap and Trade Legislation currently before Congress speed up the crisis that is Global Cooling? Will this legislation turn North America in to one big ice box?

It seems that ice at both poles haven't been paying attention to the computer models. The National Snow and Ice Data Center released its summary of summer sea-ice conditions in the Arctic last week and reported a substantial expansion of "second-year ice" — ice thick enough to have persisted through two summers of seasonal melting.

According to the NSIDC, second-year ice this summer made up 32% of the total ice cover on the Arctic Ocean, compared with 21% in 2007 and 9% in 2008. Clearly, Arctic sea ice is not following the consensus touted by Gore and the warm-mongers. (Investors Business Daily)

____________

The journal, Geophysical Research Letters published an article last month by Marco Tedesco, a research scientist at the Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology. He reported that "ice melt on Antarctica was the lowest in three decades during the ice-melt season."

Each year, millions of square miles of sea ice melt and refreeze. The amount varies from season to season. Despite pictures taken in summer of floating polar bears, data reported by the University of Illinois' Arctic Climate Research Center at the beginning of this year showed global sea ice levels the same as they were in 1979, when satellite observations began. At the other end of the earth, we are told the Larsen B ice shelf on the western side of Antarctica is collapsing. That part is warming and has been for decades. But it comprises just 2% of the continent. The rest of the continent is cooling.

Cooling. Warming. Yo Mama. These left-wing assholes are beginning to annoy me.

If there are people dumb enough to give money to Al Gore, so be it. He's going to eat himself into an early grave anyway. Of course it looks like someone is going to have to break the ice before they can dig his grave.

I wonder if they'll bury Gore with his medal or if they'll put it in the Al Gore Global Warming Fiasco Museum?

As I sit here in my house, in SE Pennsylvania, with the heat on because it's 40 degrees outside and it's only Oct 12, all I can think of it Global Warming my ass!

Wo! Why is it I only now notice your avatar? Antique Policeman? Very cute!!!!!

I love cold weather. Gore needs to retire.

That is why I don't pay attention to what people in hollywood and Al Gore say about it all...the only people in the commercials about the whole polar bear situation are "stars" because, for some reason they think people will give a damn at what they are saying.

There is no global cooling. My grandson left the refrigerator door open again.

I am not an expert, and I had no freaking clue about this cooling thing. But i really do not beleive that, just from obsevation. I lived in the north, and have been there recently. I have pictures going way back from when I was a baby on the rocks and coast of Frobisher Bay (Iqaluit) and pictures going forward from then to now in different areas (Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven, Iqaluit) and it looks to me like ice is melting, not water freezing. There is more inlet land now in some areas in the western part of the eastern arctic (which would lead me to beleive water is receeding.. so freezing could be a factor there) but on the more eastern ports (which is where that survey was) you can ask the people there and they will tell you it is melting. It is warmer there. it is effecting their hunting and livelyhood. Mostly for the better (warmer = more animals and more time to hunt in comfort).

but i have no idea. I am not a scientist. I have no degree in weather and water and earth sciences. I just see what i see, and that isn't always what the truth is. *shrugs*

Xmichra - From what I've read, the climate is now cooling.

The world's climate is cyclical and yes, there is no doubt that greenhouse gas form internal combustion engines and from burning coal impact the environment to some extent -- to some extent. Drawing a specific cause and effect relationship is a little more difficult.

Google *coal seam fires*. Naturally occurring coal seam fires pump out nearly as much greenhouse gas as automobiles in the US do.

Personally, I think we need to be as GREEN as we can be, however, saying that we (not the sun) is responsible for the current global warming/cooling might be a stretch.
