The RIGHT (?) to student loans??

Why would anyone feel as if they have a right to steal from me? Yes, socialists have that as the hallmark of their political philosophy and the younger generation are confident that they are entitled to -- everything (money for nothing, chicks for free [LINK to Dire Straits])

The Occupy Wall Street crowd typify what is wrong with America:

And my rant today focuses on people who make really dumb choices and feel as if the general public should band together and set things right financially for them.

The national policy to award student loans for people, who, based upon their educational decisions, can not possibly pay them back is WRONG. A friend of mine's brother was placed into this decision. The guy had been in a bad auto accident and it left him in a bad way. The lenders gave him a lot of money in student loans and the poor guy was one of those souls who had difficulty maintaining part time work. He was not destined to be a captain of industry or a rocket scientist. The accident took that potential from him. Yet still the loans flowed.

People don't have a RIGHT to money for nothing.

And they should be protected against themselves when we offer them massive debt for an education that is unlikely to help them repay it.

Fabulous graphic. I hope the youngsters and parents are forewarned. This is a huge problem nowadays.

LL thank you, I don't have time to watch the news and without your updates I wouldn't have a clue what's going on in the world. I'm too busy with educating myself, and from the sounds of it the fella in the first video clip best get to his classes, he needs to be educated to avoid making himself look so darn stupid in, especially in front of a camera.

Love the hippie!

I hate the guy with long hair, I just don't have time to make a sign.

I have a friend who is in the loan business at a major university in New Orleans. She said that many of those who apply are more than able to pay their own way. She also said there is great wailing and gnashing of teeth when the time comes to repay the student loans. This usually comes - again - from those well able to pay.

Race - He made a sign...

WoFat - Many people who take out student loans for a degree in UFO studies, Zombie studies, or other liberal arts are fully funded by the USGOV in the form of loans that they can't repay. This needs to change and we need to specify WHICH areas of education we wish to stress (hard science, math, accounting, etc.)

Opus - The problem with student loans given out merely for the asking is that we (as a society) run the risk of loading these people with a debt that they can't possibly repay.

As long as it's something serious like UFO Studies, I don't mind handing out student loans.

WoFat - yes, of course, UFO studies does come under the 'hard science' rubric.

I watched "Ancient Aliens" on the history channel on TV the other night. I was amazed. I never knew that everything historical could be placed at the feet of alien intervention. Silly me. I guess that all history courses could come under UFO studies too... I'm sure that Cal Berkeley has that course of study.

I was kidnapped by a UFO and taken to Chicago. It was awful!

WoFat, odd as it may seem, the President was kidnapped by a UFO from a hut in Kenya and they deposited him in Chicago too.

I sense a pattern.

However, the 'probing' must not have been as effective on you because you didn't rise to high office the way that Barack Obama and Barney Frank did.
