Senator Rand Paul stood on the floor of the US Senate and filabustered for thirteen hours today. The Obama Administration will not rule out using armed drone aircraft to attack US Citizens on American soil without a court order and without warning. This is very disturbing. Senator Paul is disturbed and yet so much of cynical Washington is not.
Senator Paul - “I will speak until I can no longer speak. I will speak as long as it takes, until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found to be guilty by a court,” Paul began.
“That Americans could be killed in a cafe in San Francisco or in a restaurant in Houston or at their home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is an abomination. It is something that should not and cannot be tolerated in our country,” he said. “I don’t rise to oppose John Brennan’s nomination simply for the person. I rise today for the principle.”
Elections have consequences, and it would seem that this past one is no different. The filibuster against the CIA director nomination began at 11:47 a.m.“I will speak today until the president responds and says no, we won’t kill Americans in cafes; no, we won’t kill you at home in your bed at night; no, we won’t drop bombs on restaurants. Is that so hard?” Paul said. “It’s amazing that the president will not respond. I’ve been asking this question for a month. It’s like pulling teeth to get the president to respond to anything. And I get no answer.”
And if what the Attorney General said in a (subsequently published) letter to Senator Rand Paul today is that the ObamaNation is not ruling out the need to kill Americans who the president wants to see dead without judicial oversight and without warning.

This is something even democrats should be against. What do you think the scream would be like if Bush had come up with this dumb idea?
Dems are OK with it because they imagine that Obama only wants to kill Tea Party members. Oh, he could never come for them. But wait...wasn't Bob Woodward one of them. They can be cast down so quickly. They should protest this tyranny before it is too late for all of us.
An Obamanation indeed. I don't know anyone who is 100% OK with the prospect of drones hovering in the atmosphere. And yet, nothing seems to be done about it.
Many Americans are unconcerned about drones firing missiles at people in distant lands. However the concept of the President all but admitting that he is fine with sending them to Kill unarmed Americans who have done nothing wrong -- bothers them.
The reality of random drone attacks worldwide by the US is becoming a reality as the second drone facility in Africa is constructed in Niger. I am opposed to it, but nobody asks me for anything but money - and a lot of people have their hand out for that.
I'm missing something here, in plain English what in the heck is going on now, or not going on?
I don't understand political ramblings, maybe it's because they go on and on without saying much of anything. All I ever hear is what will be done IF elected or put in a position of power, and the next thing I hear is they didn't come through for whatever reason and make more of a mess than it was originally.
Signed: Dazed and confused in Edmonton. lol
Darlin - President Obama and Attorney General Holder refused to rule out the use of armed drone aircraft to attack American citizens on American soil in circumstances where there had been no court order or legal action against the person targeted for execution.
Senator Rand Paul filibustered in the US Senate for thirteen hours, bringing a lot of attention to the issue, after which the Obama Administration relented and said that it wouldn't use drones to attack US Citizens more or less at will on American soil.
Wow, what in the heck is this world coming to? Thank you for updating me on this LL, I had no clue. I guess I really might have to start paying a bit of attention to what is going on in the world, ignoring it doesn't make everything all peaches and cream. All I know is our new budget has been released and for the richest province in Canada, Alberta is in a sad state of affairs with cuts being made in the wrong areas. Some things I just don't understand; greed, corruption, fat getting fatter, etc.
