A Great Day!

Aug. 19 marks this year's "Cost of Government Day." The date, calculated by the Americans for Tax Reform, signals when the average American finishes paying off his or her respective share of federal, state and local taxes, and the cost of implementing government regulations. This year, that means a whopping 231 days -- or almost 2/3 of the year -- are spent paying to keep the country going.

So if you are an official US taxpayer - consider what you've earned so far this year money spent -- however they're spending it. And realize that what you earn from now on is "nearly" yours to keep. I say nearly because it doesn't cover sales tax, property tax, excise taxes (such as taxes on gasoline, etc.).

You're going to have to work a couple more months to pay all that off.

I must be getting old. I can remember back when this day came in the middle of May.

I'm so old that when I was a kid, I think it was sometime in March...

barack hussein obama advanced it by two months (a month a year) during his regime so far.

It means that I don't have to worry about spending my money -- the government will spend it for me.
