Altitude

California Pass, near Silverton, CO

Base of Engineer Pass, note deer at top-left

Corkscrew Pass, near Red Mountain (Yes because the mountain is
red but I didn't name it. Somebody else did.)

One of the guys I ran with one day with took photos of my rig in the high country along the Continental Divide in Colorado. He finally got around to sending them to me, and I'm posting a couple of them here. Photos don't do the country justice, but it's all you can bring back to remind you of what it's like. You'll notice that the roads are not difficult. They're essentially graded mining roads. Visiting this area is for the view and the vibe, not for the difficulty factor on the road.

And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

LL you're right, photos never seem to do the country justice, but if I inhale deeply enough on this end I just might be able to breathe in the fresh mountain air.

I miss the mountains, after I get back from my mini adventure East it might be time for road trip! Your adventure looks like an amazing way to spend a day, if not two or three.

Attitude is everything...but a good drive-train, suspension and tires help, too.

I'm wondering how many miles have you driven in that vehicle. And how many of those miles were going up mountain ranges :)

With that vehicle, if a rock slide happens to block the road, no problem....

-Darlin- It's about the only place that I really feel whole.

-Coffeypot- Well, yeah. If there's a rock that I want to climb, I climb it. What would fun would it be if you couldn't?

-Azra- About 53,000 miles in 5 years. It's not a daily driver. I just take it on trips like this one.

-Opus- NO problem!
