"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." -- John Stewart Mill

So true.
Reagan knew that we would have peace through strength, not weakness. Carter thought that weakness and happy conversation would win him the love of the world. It didn't. We became a laughing stock.
Part of the strength that brings peace is the willingness to use it. And that means war.
The present administration swept into office proclaiming peace and an end to war. And they are ramping up in Afghanistan as Iraq is winding down. They face North Korean and Iranian nuclear ambitions and plans for regional domination to the detriment of our allies.
I hope they learn the lesson the easy way rather than the hard way.
How many have to die? As many as it takes?
They won't learn it the easy way. Tragically, they won't. I've pretty much accepted that. Not by choice. But I have accepted it. While the liberals chant "fear monger" to anyone with enough sense to exhibit any hint ofself-preservation, this admin. is rapidly hacking away at our very foundation with a fire axe. The complacent masses do nothing. The only thing we can do is try and ride it out, and do our best to mitigate the damage.
