Post Basketball Championship Riots

It seems that every time the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team wins a championship, there is a riot, even if the final game is played somewhere other than Los Angeles. Tonight we've seen yet another example.

Tonight is no exception.

And as usual, the television crews get close up s of burning, looting and destruction while the police, impotent, stand by and watch.

Are you content with the concept of police standing mute while this takes place (like clockwork)? I know some LAPD officers and like the human race, there are some very effective, very professional officers and some embarrassingly weak, frail, wimpy officers - I'm talking about you, Ray. And I didn't like you eye-balling me today either... comment about LAPD type who lives near me and fits in the latter category.

What do you think the Los Angeles Police Department should do when insane, fans begin burning cars, destroying businesses, etc.?

I see no problem with this. These boys are obviously late for choir practice and lit some votive candles. Besides, a few more riots will help to bring down real estate prices, making it easier for first-time home buyers. ;-)

Seriously...I think they should have whooped some ass. ESPECIALLY when the stupid people (I will not throw race into it) threw a trash can that they had lit on fire onto the windshield of a unit...and they were also jumping on the hoods. Why does celebrating have to involve destruction and the disrespect given to law enforcement. If only the police could do what they did when you were an officer. I think BF would have a lot more fun:)

I wish our Oilers would win something again, it might help the real estate values here depreciate as well.

I have no comprehension of the mentality, or lack of, when people riot when their team wins. Maybe it's as easy as good drugs getting passed around which in turn causes the brain cells to entirely shut down, ya that sounds feasible. Idiots!

I think that the LAPD (among other police departments) should teach the police to make judgement calls - if there is looting, people getting hurt, business being vandalized then KICK ASS!!! Everyone is so afraid of lawsuits that they let the lowest common denominator win!

Amen to that Julia, I agree 100%! If you wanna play, you gotta pay!

When I lived in LA, we used to count time by the four seasons: the earthquake season, the fire season, the flood season, and the riot season.

I will never go back.
