According to Wikipedia, there have been at least 27 attempts to divide California into two states since 1850. Obviously none of them have worked so far. The state is culturally divided and politically divided to the extent that it would make sense. Will there be a 28th attempt to split the California? Odds favor it. Will it become reality? Doubtful.
